H&S Management System Audits &
Workplace Safety Inspections
Why do you need it?
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) defines an audit as: “A collection of independent information on the efficiency, effectiveness and reliability of the total health & safety management system (HSMS) and drawing up plans for corrective action.”
An in-depth Health and Safety Compliance Audit or Workplace Safety Inspection can be useful when establishing whether your current Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) is actually working and whether employees are observing safe Health and Safety practices at work.
As a business owner, you have a legal obligation to monitor, maintain, and review all aspects of health and safety within your organisation. By adhering to the audit requirements and processes, your organisation can effectively demonstrate a proactive commitment to health and safety, ensuring compliance with legislative, insurance, and fire safety standards.
Conducting audits and workplace safety inspections, provides a comprehensive evaluation of your company’s health and safety management systems and is recognised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as a vital component of proactive monitoring.
Comprehensive audits and workplace safety inspections performed by a competent person, can identify gaps that may otherwise go unchecked through routine walk-around inspections, thereby enhancing your organisation’s overall safety framework.

Compliance Audits and Workplace Safety Inspections
The primary purpose of a Health and Safety audit is to systematically evaluate and assess an organisation's health and safety policies, procedures, and practices to identify potential risks and ensure compliance with regulations.
Whereby Health and Safety workplace inspections are designed to systematically identify hazards and assess working practices to ensure a safe and compliant environment.
The key difference between a Health and Safety Audit and a Workplace Inspection is that audits evaluate the effectiveness of an organisation's Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), while Workplace Inspections focus on identifying immediate hazards and non-compliance in specific areas or operations.
They should ideally be conducted by someone who is competent in identifying potential workplace hazards and mitigating risks to prevent accidents and injuries. These inspections and audits are crucial to ensuring compliance and the safety of the workplace environment, as well as the individuals working within it.
Our comprehensive audit and workplace inspection will identify any statutory non compliance, potential risks, hazards, or safety concerns and make recommendations for improvements.
Compliance audits and workplace inspections can be carried out separately as required, or they can be combined as a joint inspection.
