Why do you need it?
Regulation 3 of the Management of Health & Safety Regulations 1999, obliges all employers to carry out suitable and sufficient assessments of the risks to the health and safety of their employees to which they are exposed while at work.
It is a legal requirement for any employer and must be documented wherever five or more people are employed.
Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), are an essential and integral part of health and safety management in the workplace and for any business or organisation.
| What is a Risk Assessment?
A risk assessment is a process of identifying potential hazards and evaluating the likelihood and severity of any harm they could cause. It helps organizations understand potential risks they might face and develop strategies to mitigate them. The aim is to identify and reduce risks, ensuring a safer environment for individuals and the organization as a whole.
The law does not expect you to eliminate all risk but requires you to protect people as far as is ‘reasonably practicable’.
