Competent Person.
Why do you need it?
Under Regulation 7 of the Management of Health & Safety Regulations 1999, as an employer, you must appoint someone competent to help you meet your health and safety legal obligations.
A competent person in health and safety is someone, either an internal employee or an external advisor, who is sufficiently trained and has the level of knowledge and experience necessary to assist you. The level of competence needed depends on the type and complexity of the help you need.
A retained competent person can either support your in-house health and safety team or serve as your primary source of expertise and guidance. In the latter role, they will oversee all aspects of your Health and Safety Management Systems (HSMS), ensuring continued compliance and effective risk management.

How can we help?
Eden Health and Safety can take this responsibility off you, by providing your business comprehensive and affordable services and competent person packages for businesses of all sizes.
Your business can benefit from having Eden Health and Safety act as your Competent Person, which means you can reduce your overheads by not employing a full-time member of staff to deal solely with Health and Safety issues, and have that reassurance of being able to call upon expert support, advise and guidance when you need it.
Hiring a retained Competent Person will give you peace of mind that your legal duties under Health and Safety legislation are covered and you are providing your employees with a safe working environment.
Retained management support plan
We have seen SME's, who were once using the larger health and safety consultancy companies, migrate over to us once their renewal periods have expired.
The reason being, as your Competent Person, Eden Health and Safety offer a more personal client to consultant relationship, with realistic support plans, designed for your business needs and which do not tie you in for long periods of time.
Our Health and Safety Support Plan will provide piece of mind, that professional support and advice is available when you need it, and that your legal obligations are covered, and you are providing your employees with a safe working environment.
