About me & my Journey 

I am an independent Health and Safety consultant (IOSH Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner) based in Edinburgh, Scotland, providing a friendly but professional approach to all Health and Safety issues within various SME and start up businesses in Scotland and Cumbria.

Background 

I have a health and safety management, training and advisory background, gained within the private sector in; wholesale food supplies, warehousing and logistics. 

I was born and educated in Essex, I later moved and lived in the Lake District, Cumbria for an enjoyable number of years, before relocating to Edinburgh, Scotland, where I changed career direction into Health and Safety, which is a move I have not regretted - When setting up my own practice, the aim was to be able to serve clients in both Scotland and Cumbria. 

 

I am passionate about Health and Safety, I believe that businesses no matter the size, should have access to affordable support, guidance and advice, delivered in a friendly, understandable and timely manner, in a way that is relevant to your organisation.:

Within my career in Health and Safety, I have built up a wealth of working experience in providing sound and practical guidance and advice to; directors, managers and employers in line with current Health and Safety legislation. 

Over time I have built up knowledge and experience in, for example:

  • Carrying out workplace and DSE assessments

  • Performing accident, dangerous and significant occurrence investigations (including RIDDOR's)

  • Risk Assessment Management and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)

  • Compliance with mandatory employee and public notices 

  • COSHH assessments (The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002)

  • Performing sub-contractor compliance checks

  • Health and Safety policy and procedure writing

  • Performing site/workplace health, Safety and Welfare inspections

  • Liability analysis

  • Phased return to work assessment and approved plan after injury or illness

  • Staff training requirements

  • Health and Safety induction training for new employees

I believe Health and Safety advice and support should be affordably accessible to all businesses, no matter if you are a new start-up, or an established SME - I am happy to work closely with you, and provide you and your business with an affordable Health and Safety consultancy service.
